Cleaver Boy...

I told Tyler to make some cinnamon treats
while Kelsey & I were out shopping.
I certainly didn't expect him to do it...
but when we came home, this 'display'
was set up for us. Cleaver.
No dirty dishes this way, either!

River Ride

We bought Uncle Don's boat.
We docked it near Halbrite and road
along the river. Terry even rowed for awhile.
I tried...but wasn't too good at steering us
where we needed to be!
We saw lots of wild life and could hear
them really well without the motor running.
Very fun.

Grace Update

No pictures...Grace does not allow pictures.
One day Terry & I went there and Terry bought her a coke.
We went into the activity room and found that they have a Wii.
I told Grace that her and Terry should play it and I'd take their
picture for the blog. She turned and left. No Wii and no picture.

Last time we went, we brought Smarties. She really likes those.
We gave one box to her 90 year old smoking buddy, who Grace
wheels in and out for a smoke. We told Grace to share them with
her friends, so she offered many people Smarties while we were there.
One resident came right into Grace's room, sat on the bed, grabbed
the box of Smarties and starting eating. Grace let her, then took her
hand and guided her out of the room.

Some things you should know:
Sometimes she can't answer the phone if you call because she is
busy breathing.
Those people aren't dead, they are just laying there.
The bird died.
Baths are NOT necessary.
The hair dresser laughs too much.
If there is a worker she doesn't like, she'll tell you so - Really Loud!

Overall, I think she is doing very well and the workers really enjoy her.
She has gained weight over the winter, because I think she has become
quite inactive and has been well fed. If she is grumpy to me one day,
the next time I go she says "Well, I still love you" and I say, "I love
you too, Grace!"

Grand Torino Father's Day

This morning at 5:30AM Tyler wakes me up and tells me that two guys are on
our front deck drinking beer and stealing our lawn furniture
Before I could get up they were already gone and our furniture was
on the street, so I went outside in the rain and picked everything up.
Half hour later they came back and as one guy stood on our front lawn drinking beer
the other was back on our deck trying to steal our chairs again.
I chased after them both in the rain with bare feet and caught them at the end of the block
I tackled the first guy on a dead run and as we skidded across the wet grass I drove his face
into the turf, then proceeded to choke him out. The second guy started to come after me
and I told him once I was done choking out his buddy I was going to get up and hurt him.
As he took a run at me to try and punch and kick me I knocked him backwards into the
neighbours flower garden. At this time he pulled out his cell phone and told me he was calling
the police. How things change, first your breaking into my private property at 5:30AM then
your calling the police for protection??? I gave them the police station phone number and told
them to tell the police that the guy who just knocked the both of them down was Terry.
At this point he put his phone away and asked if they could just leave the area and take their beer with them.
The neighbor at the end of the block told me he had already called the cops and would give
a statement in my defense and encouraged me to keep them both pinned down.
Finally the first guy came to and I let him up as I was dumping out their beer on the sidewalk
When the police pulled up I stuffed them both in the back of the police car.
As the scene unfolded it reminded me of the new Clint Eastwood movie Grand Torino.
Tyler told me later that it was the best foot chase and tackle he had ever seen outside
of football.
On the way home from Church Tyler looked at me and apologized because he forgot
it was Father Day. As he was apologizing he told me this would be a Father's Day he would
remember for the rest of his life and that I was his hero
Pretty hard to hold the tears back at that point when your 15 year old son still thinks
your his hero!
